Position Overview:  The Residential Life Director is responsible for primary oversight and implementation of the Residence Hall environment and programming as a full-time, on-site resident. The Residential Life Director reports directly to the Director of Program Operations and manages the Residential Life Staff including “Staff on Duty” and all Residence Hall activities and operations. The Residential Life Director will demonstrate the necessary expertise to develop the optimal culture in which all residential student-athletes can pursue their athletic dreams, academic excellence, and personal growth.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes and staff in the Residence Hall.
  • Spend time daily with each resident and be present and available around campus and in academic and residential buildings.
  • Support all Residential Life staff, and help coordinate all Residence Hall staffing and scheduling.
  • Demonstrate understanding of child development and current support pedagogies.
  • Establish and enforce all behavior standards for resident student-athletes and the Residence Hall.
  • Hold residents accountable for guidelines and standards of the school.
  • Ensure stewardship including cleanliness of common areas and resident spaces in Residence Hall, and help coordinate all student-athlete chores and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate medical services with the SBSTA Medical Coordinator.
  • Plan and coordinate meal services with the Food Services Director throughout the academic year.
  • Provide transportation to residents to doctors appointments, errands, etc. on a regular basis.
  • Plan and execute logistics for day to day operations of Residence Hall.
  • Plan and implement on-campus and off-campus activities for residents.
  • Exhibit a passion to teach and learn from young people and colleagues.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Three (3) or more years of residential experience is preferred.
  • A B.A. in an education-related field preferred.
  • Proficiency with Google Workplace and various data platforms is required.
  • The ideal candidate works collaboratively with colleagues and places the best interest of our student-athletes at the heart of the residential experience.
  • The ideal candidate for this position is one who has experience and interest in the development of the “whole-child” and implementation of restorative practices.
  • The ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills with residents, staff, parents, and administrators.
  • The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative, is conscientious, and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.
  • The ideal candidate possesses a strong passion for SBSTA’s core sports and the mission of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to live and work in a high altitude, mountain environment with frequent, heavy storms disrupting day-to-day operations–and have a sense of humor, creativity, and flexibility to be effective in that environment.
  • Must hold a current Driver License and a clean driving record through CA DMV record check.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor within a flexible work environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds overhead.

As a condition of employment all employees must pass a State of California fingerprinting background check via Livescan as well as complete a two-hour Safesport training.

Salary Range: $60K-$75K includes on-campus Housing/Meals.
