Finance Coordinator

Hybrid in the Tahoe Basin

The League to Save Lake Tahoe is searching for an exceptionally organized, detail-oriented individual to join our fun and growing team of environmental enthusiasts and experts. The Finance Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Finance Director in the finance and auditing needs of the organization. This includes the day-to-day administrative responsibilities and record keeping, requiring attention to detail, discretion, and dependability. This position will work closely with League staff but will be called upon to complete tasks independently.

This position will report directly to the Finance Director.

The League operates under a hybrid work structure that does not require employees to be in the office daily.

What the position involves:
  • Record receipt of income on a bi-weekly basis and prepare deposits to be made.
  • Monthly credit card reconciliation, including making payments, obtaining proper authorizations, collecting receipts and ensuring organization of all files.
  • Work with the League’s Philanthropy Team to obtain revenue batches and audit back-up for entry.
  • Assist in classifying expenditures to accurately report out to the League’s internal departmental teams.
  • Use the financial database to answer questions.
  • Maintain sales tax tracking and schedules (e.g. sales tax).
  • Prepare tax documentation for donations.
  • Maintain organized files for month close processes.
  • Using payroll software, download reports for approval and to ensure accuracy.
  • Accurately file and organize all finance documents and maintain confidentiality.
  • Act as contact for charitable solicitation registrations to ensure states and managing firms receive accurate information.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Two or more years of professional experience.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Understanding of database systems and proficiency with data entry.
  • Possesses good judgment and works well with others.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Efficient and effective at managing and completing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and manage a variety of tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Maintains a high degree of accuracy in data and confidentiality.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Undergraduate degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Lake Tahoe environmental and policy issues.
  • An interest and passion for environmental conservation and the League’s mission to protect, restore, and advocate for the ecosystem health and scenic beauty of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
League-specific requirements:
  • Employees are required to have a vehicle that is in good working order, proof of valid driving license, non-expired vehicle registration, and effective insurance coverage. Travel around the Tahoe Basin, Bay Area, Reno, and Sacramento may be required.
  • Position requires some physical activity, such as bending, stooping, carrying and lifting up to 50 pounds.
