Position Title:   Aquatics Instructor

Job Summary:  As an Aquatics Instructor, your primary responsibility is to teach swimming lessons and conduct aquatic activities for club members. Provide a fun, positive, and engaging environment while assessing the progress of students and adjusting teaching programs accordingly. You will need to have a thorough understanding of swimming techniques, water safety, and have experience working with individuals of all ages and skill levels.

Education/Experience: 2 years experience in competitive swim preferred. 2 years experience as a swim instructor is preferred. Childcare experience is preferred.

 Language/Communication: To be successful in this role, you will need to have strong communication skills, be patient, and have a passion for teaching and helping others.

Certificates/Licenses/Safety Training: Lifeguard Certification, CPR/First Aid Certification; Criminal background check is required. Bloodborne Pathogen safety training.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Teach swimming lessons to club members of all ages and skill levels.
  • Developing lesson plans, providing instruction, and monitoring progress.
  • Monitor students to prevent accidents and injuries
  • Oversee and observe swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
  • Enforce rules of conduct at the pool.
  • Administer care to swimmers’ minor injuries, such as small cuts and bruises.
  • Conducting, planning and leading aquatic activities such as water aerobics, pool games, and other aquatic exercises.
  • Ensure the safety of all club members in the pool area, enforcing pool rules and responding quickly to any emergencies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe pool area, including testing and treating the water, cleaning the pool deck, and organizing pool equipment.
  • Set up and put away any equipment necessary.
  • Build strong relationships with club members to understand their needs and preferences, and to ensure they have a positive experience in the pool area.
  • Communicate with staff and parents on the progress of the students.
  • Communicate well with Aquatics Coordinator, lifeguards, and other teammates.
  • Must maintain a positive, professional attitude in all interactions with children, parents, families, and staff members.
  • Participating in training and development by staying up-to-date with the latest swimming techniques, water safety practices, and teaching methods, and participate in ongoing training and development programs.

 

Because of the fluctuating demands of the Club’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your job, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks, not specifically addressed above.
