Are you a creative people person with a passion for building relationships while developing a culture of safety? The Safety and Employee Training Specialist is a full-time year-round position working with all departments across Tahoe Donner as the lead developer and instructor for safety training policies and programs. The ideal candidate has excellent written and verbal communication skills with a creative twist when presenting safety regulations. This role calls for a motivated solution seeker, independent decision maker and a collaborative team player. Technical knowledge in security and surveillance systems is a plus.

This position is responsible for engaging a culture of safety throughout the organization by acting as the lead trainer and educator to influence leaders to prioritize safety as part of the normal course of business. Perform the duties of lead developer for traditional and new safety policies and programs to promote safety for employees in compliance with all Federal and State OSHA rules and regulations and Association policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Continuous development of the Tahoe Donner Association Online Learning Management System.
  2. Act as trainer to departments for their department specific uses for Learning Management System functions.
  3. Helps to lead, motivate and foster a safety-conscious culture in the workplace to reduce incidents and injuries.
  4. Establish a strong and visible presence in operation and work closely with various levels of management.
  5. Assist with the development and implementation of company safety policies and programs to prevent unsafe work practices
  6. Continuous development of new competencies and procedures to support sound safety training programs.
  7. Provide technical support to management and employees on all subject matter related to safety.
  8. Conduct weekly, monthly audits related to safety and health on-mountain and/or property to protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Tahoe Donner Association members and guests.
  9. Assist with Workers Compensation claim communication and reporting between employee and W/C provider.
  10. Develop, prepare, and present safety information for seasonal operations and employee orientations.
  11. Organize and facilitate department Safety Committee meetings on a quarterly basis.
  12. Perform vital functions assisting with facility compliance programming for all association functions.
  13. Provide Risk Department coverage on weekends and holidays.
  14. Act as health and safety lead when Risk and Loss Control Supervisor is not available.
  15. Support and audit incident investigations in the field for members, guests, and employees.
  16. Facilities Operations Daily transport and pickups of amenity revenues
  17. Facilities Operations Daily pickup and delivery of interoffice mail
  18. Accompanying Accounting Staff for ATM cash replenishments.

Requirements

  • Ability to multitask and handle diverse situation.
  • Must be a motivated problem solver, collaborative team player with leadership skills and possess strong independent decision making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; report writing skills
  • Requires strong and effective training and presentation skills. As well as effective training program development skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Knowledge Security and Surveillance equipment
  • Good knowledge of OSHA, Skier Safety Act and other applicable regulations
  • Requires Possession of Class C Driver License with a driving record meeting the minimum standards by the association insurance Carrier

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through an Associate Degree or equivalent from two-year college or trade/technical school, and two years’ experience; and/or training in human resources or administration. Requires two to three years’ experience in training. Two to three years’ experience in risk management preferred, or one to three years’ experience in resort management, also preferred or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.

Min $23.85 – Mid $28.33 – Max $32.79
