Melissa Williams has enjoyed working with the Truckee Chamber of Commerce on content and Chamber publications for more than four years. She has 30 years experience in publishing, journalism, and management – working as an AP reporter covering Capitol Hill, then hotel/travel related and political public relations in Washington, D.C., editor for an independent arts publisher in Mountain View, CA, to managing editor of McGraw-Hill Higher Education. At McGraw-Hill in San Francisco, Melissa managed a team of 40, including staff in Chicago and New York as well as San Francisco and was responsible for producing 50+ heavily illustrated arts and social sciences books/year.

Melissa has worked as a freelance editor and writer since moving to Truckee in 2004. She was a volunteer founder of Sierra Expeditionary Learning School (SELS) and a weekly classroom volunteer for years. She worked with Dr. Robert Leri, Superintendent of  TTUSD, writing communications and as a content developer for TTUSD’s new website. She’s served on nonprofit boards and has been an active overnight volunteer for the Truckee-North Tahoe Emergency Warming Shelter since it opened in winter 2015. You can find Melissa mountain biking, skiing in the woods with her dog, paddle boarding, watching her daughter dance, on the dance floor with her husband and friends, and enjoying our beautiful environment and community.
